There was a time when a bartender “buying a round” was the ultimate gesture of welcome. It was a handshake in a glass. An invitation to pull up a stool and stay a while.

On Saturday, May 16, in the heart of American Craft Beer Week (May 11-17), we’re celebrating the inaugural Beer It Forward Day™—a statewide excuse to be the friend everyone wants to have. If you’ve been waiting for a reason to put some miles on your Connecticut Field Trip Passport or finally join the club, your invitation to good times is calling. Don’t let it go to voicemail.

Your Mission – Should You Choose to Accept It:

Simply pick one stop in your Passport. Bring your book. Get stamped. Make it a day.

When the brewery buys that round for you, we invite you to do what this book was designed for—the "2-for-1 for 2":

Beer It Forward.

  • Pass it to a friend. Especially the one who’s been "too busy" lately. It’s time to negotiate their release from the couch. Be firm but fair.

  • Share it with your family. Even that crazy uncle you haven’t heard from since the holidays. It’s amazing what a cold one can do for a conversation.

  • Convert a Craft-Skeptic. We all have that friend who thinks all breweries have to offer are IPAs that taste like pine cones. Use your second pour to show them what they’ve been missing.

  • Invite a Taproom Tourist. You don’t need a buzz to enjoy the best community hangouts in the state. From killer taproom eats to live local bands, there’s plenty to discover even if you aren’t chasing the hops. Grab them a craft soda, a local NA brew, or let them steal a "research sip" of your brewski—you might just witness a craft beer conversion in real-time.

  • Surprise a stranger. Slide that second pour down the bar to the person sitting at the end. Who knows? You might just meet your new beer buddy.

Here’s the thing:

If you’ve been using your Passport, you’re likely already doing all of this. This day is all about cranking up the volume on the local energy that makes the CT beer scene awesome.

One beer turns into two, and suddenly we’re coming together with the local small businesses that make this community go. Plain and simple, this little book is all about making connections and having fun.

Huge thanks to our 50+ Passport partners. They committed to buying that first round because they believe in that same old-school spirit. They’re opening their doors to show off their craft, hoping you’ll find a new favorite local haunt.
